This is a perfectly timed article as I've been looking into 3D imagery for artistic purposes. Images of an asteroid feel quite suitable for this type of presentation. As always, thanks for sharing interesting content.

I think a trip to the art store for some red and green plastic sheets might be in order later this week. Follow that up with a little bit of construction during the evenings and some fun viewing will be on tap. Now if only I could find a copy of Creature From the Black Lagoon when it was broadcast in 3D. :)

Cool! I always like to hear that something I find interesting enough to share sparks something in a visitor to the site.

The whole concept of 3D is perfectly magical to me. I understand how it works but am still amazed every time I experience the effect.

I have toyed around with drawing stereo pairs in the past and know that creating artwork that presents in three dimensions is particularly satisfying.

Will do Michael. I know one of the local art stores does indeed carry the plastic sheets I need so it's just a matter of finding time in the schedule to go pick up one each in red and blue. Cardboard or heavy card stock frame patterns exist on the web too so I'll see what I can do. Maybe a picture or two will show up on the Shoddy Onion of things get traction. :)

I now have in my possession two sheets of colored PVC, one blue, one tangerine. Tangerine because they didn't have red in the same sheet thickness as the blue. I'm sure tangerine will do the job nicely and hopefully will add a tangy flavor to the viewing. Now to find some time to fabricate up some stylish (or not so stylish) paper frames.

I would not be surprised to learn of tangerine working as good or better than red. Red/Blue is not perfect by any means.

I really wish it was Red/Green though, because then I could segue into a discussion on duct tape [smiley:;)]
