The Simpsons

The New 16 LEGO Simpsons MiniFigs!

A new set of characters from The Simpsons have been brought to the world of LEGO. In partnership with 20th Century Fox and in honor of the 25th anniversary of the television series, LEGO has released a series of 16 new character figurines from the iconic animated comedy.

The new Lego cast includes the five family members, Ned Flanders, Mr. Burns, Ralph Wiggum, Chief Wiggum, Apu, Millhouse, Nelson, Krusty, Itchy and Scratchy.

To top it off, each character comes with their very own accessory.

The entire line of LEGO ‘The Simpsons’ minifigures series is launching in May in major toy retailers nationwide for $3.99 each, just in time for the special LEGO episode of ‘The Simpsons’ that’s premiering May 4, 2014 on Fox at 8/7c.

Life Stinks For Abigail?Back in May of 2012 I posted about the "Life Stinks? We Can Help." advertising campaign waged by Tidy Cats™ brand kitty litter, in the BlogDogIt article titled "I Need You To Lower Your Voice." That article featured an embedded YouTube video (The Lobby) that I only recently noticed had been removed (apparently by Tidy Cats.)

This discovery set me on a mission to find that video again to restore the post. I assumed that since this advertising campaign / web series was so good that I would have little trouble turning up a replacement; was I wrong? It really took some digging but I finally found the collection on the Kids At Play Media website. I was so relieved to find they had the entire 10 episode series available; I was really beginning to think these video gems would be lost to the world at large. I hope all interested parties will forgive me as I do my bit to continue to share the trials and tribulations of dear ol' Abigail.

Share and Enjoy!

Kids At Play MediaFrom Kids At Play: Life Stinks? For Abigail it often does. It seems that no matter where she is or what she’s doing things have the potential to go wrong … hilariously wrong. A hysterical new web series starring Rachael Harris, produced in association with AFG, Principato Young Entertainment, and Electus.

Throw BlogDogIt A BoneI have been having fun with the BlogDogIt "Friends - Link Exchange" (over to the right there - in case you missed it.)[smiley:;)] I have made several friends and have hopefully generated some traffic for them. I also have them to thank for bringing visitors to BlogDogIt by virtue of their display of the "BlogDogIt Tag" on their site, as part of the "Throw BlogDogIt A Bone" initiative.

I was facing a delima in that I had several links posted in the link exchange simply because they contained links back to BlogDogIt while not actually displaying the "BlogDogItTag." I still want to promote those sites but I really feel that the "Friends - Link Exchange" needs to stay true to its intended purpose.

Today I completed what I think to be a fine solution: I call it "Friendly Ad Roller" and right now it is displayed in the upper left corner of every page. This feature displays a randomly selected link-back graphic to one of our friend's websites. The pool of ads contains the official link exchange participants as well as other folks that I would like to bring to your attention.

Scroll this Box for the full "Rotation" of available Ads.

Console Living Room

The Internet Archive Console Living Room harkens back to the revolution of the change in the hearth of the home, when the fireplace and later television were transformed by gaming consoles into a center of videogame entertainment. Connected via strange adapters and relying on the television's speaker to put out beeps and boops, these games were resplendent with simple graphics and simpler rules.

Portal To Another DimensionThe home console market is credited with slowly shifting attention from the arcade craze of the early 1980s and causing arcades to shrink in popularity, leaving a small percentage of what once were many.

Through use of the JSMESS emulator system, which allows direct access to these programs in your browser with no additional plugins or settings, these games can be enjoyed again. Simply click on the screenshot or "Emulate This" button for each individual cartridge, and on modern browsers the games will just start to run. As nostalgia, a teaching tool, or just plain fun, you'll find hundreds of the games that started a billion-dollar industry.

These games are best enjoyed in an up to date version of a modern browser. Currently, there is no sound in the games, although that feature will be added soon. Please read carefully regarding key mappings of the games and programs, to use them in your browser.

Simply click on a system below to browse through available games and cartridges and try them out. Where possible, links to manuals and additional information are available for reference.

I was casually reviewing the video portfolio of our friend Tom Durham and discovered a spoof commercial he made for a client espousing the benefits of Compact Florescent Lights.

95ers - The Creative Spark

Regular visitors to BlogDogIt know that I am perhaps the worlds biggest fan of Thomas Durham and his indie film project 95ers. I just got word of a new documentary by Lynda.com about the making of this masterpiece (via an email from 95ers Universe.) I share with you their introduction below:

Greetings time travelers!  We are saving the world from timespace paradoxes and doing our bit to support artists and storytellers everywhere!  One of the mighty pulsars in the creative community, Lynda.com, heard about the 95ers story and descended on producer/director Tom Durham’s house to film a documentary on the topic…

So, here it is:

Please share this with sci-fi fans, struggling artists, and normal humans everywhere.  Tom tried to get them to put more in about the awesomeness of the collaborators on the project, but Lynda was razor focused on Tom’s own goofiness.  It’s a huge honor to be featured in this video series, so many thanks to everyone who part of this.

The Creative Spark: Tom Durham, Indie Filmmaker from lynda.com on Vimeo.

Tom Durham didn't start out naïve or inexperienced. As the head of a media department responsible for creating commercial advertisements and other videos, he had legitimate production skills. He was also ready and willing to devote all his waking time and money to a side project.

But into his fifth year of making his first feature-length movie, 95ers, Tom realized he might be in over his head. This sci-fi epic required a full crew, not to mention elaborate sets, miniatures, and intense visual effects and compositing work.

Just when it seemed like he might never be able to release a complete version of the movie, he turned to Kickstarter. There he found an unexpected outpouring of financial support and an entirely new audience for his film.

Listen to Tom tell his story and see exclusive behind-the-scenes footage from 95ers in this installment of The Creative Spark.
