epileptic_seizures_warning.gifThe number of times a specified periodic phenomenon occurs within a specified interval is called its frequency.

Whether discussing the frequency with which the Earth revolves around the Sun (vise versa for our "Flat Earther" friends) or the waves of the various types of light emanating from that boring ol' Class G Star of ours there can be little doubt that frequencies are not only the spice of life, in many ways they are what give life to our reality.

Quantum Jitters

In String Theory of Theoretical Physics it is postulated that the smallest particles that make up everything (elementary particles) are nothing more than invisible one dimensional vibrating strings and that the only thing differentiating these various constituents of our very existence is their rate of vibration (or frequency.)

Differing frequencies in the waves of light is what gives us colors (eg. blue is higher frequency than red.) Vibrations of the air are responsible for the sounds we hear (eg. low notes are slow waves high notes are faster waves.) Electromagnetic waves are useful for all sorts of radio related activities (including television and cellular phones.) So it should be obvious that you don't have to be fascinated with frequencies to find yourself totally immersed in them.

hypnotoadThere has been quite a bit of investigating by scientist as well as pseudo-scientist regarding the WSOGMM and how the various frequencies that surround us might be beneficial or detrimental if applied willingly to our person in some form or other. Michael Triggs over at Papercut Suicide has compiled a "listing of frequencies that various parties have claimed can affect the human mind or body in some way." See: Brainwave Frequency Listing for one of the Internet's best assemblage of information on this topic.

There are actually quite a lot of YouTube videos that offer "tone therapy/brainwave entertainment" of one form or another; I have decided to throw my hat into that ring.

The production highlighted in this article is a unique blend of audio and video and draws on an earlier discussion about freeviewing stereo image pairs. Since the act of 3D viewing (depth perception) is actually a mental construct whereby the brain blends information collected by each eye so as to present the consciousness with valuable information regarding the environment of this existence; it is hoped that by combining a few key frequencies and including an alternating stereophonic earth resonance pulse piggy-backed upon the stereo vision brain function that something interesting might manifest itself in the exercise. This approach has yielded an audio/visual experience like none other. Is this a good thing or is this a bad thing? You be the judge...

Time TunnelThe video presented here features positive and negative images of the BlogDogIt signature 'God's Eye' avatar rendered in black and white and alternating left for right at a frequency of 33 cycles per second as the visual component. The legendary Schumann Resonance (normally inaudible) has been rendered by a saw-tooth waveform to serve as the metronome for the piece. The 7.83Hz (cycles per second) 'ticking' alternates between left and right channels in an attempt to force both hemispheres of the brain to take part in the entertainment. The sound track is further infused with pure sine-wave tones of the 9Hz, 33Hz and 108Hz frequency. The 108Hz being responsible for the audible tone and the other two detectable as impressions upon the available auditory sensation.

One Second of Audio Waves

A One Second Sampling Of Raw Audio Tracks

The Brain Frequency Listing by Michael Triggs had the following to say about these included frequencies (visit the page for complete details):

7.83 - Earth Resonance, grounding [×], "Schumann Resonance." [TS, ESR+HSW, MAG]; anti-jetlag, anti-mind control, improved stress tolerance [SS]; psychic healing experiments [ESR]; pituitary stimulation to release growth hormone (helps develop muscle, recover from injuries, rejuvenation effects) [HSW]; Earth Resonance Frequency - 'leaves you feeling revitalized like you've spent a day in the country.' [PWM via DW]; reports of accelerated healing/enhanced learning - "the earth's natural brainwave" [MAG]

[HSW] notes that higher octaves of the 7.83 Schumann Resonance can also stimulate the pituitary in the same way that 7.83 HZ can - especially 31.32 HZ. (One needs to be careful to distinguish between octaves of the 7.83 Schumann Resonance, and the other six Schumann Resonances, which are not higher octaves of 7.83 HZ.)

8.6-9.8 Induces sleep, tingling sensations [SS]

9.0, 11.0, 16.0 [bad] documented calcium ion migration (brain tissue) [SS]

There's some disagreement over whether these frequencies offer anything to fear when used for binaural beats. Here's the thread from the Brainwave Generator message board : http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bwgen/message/4592

9.0 - 13.0 - Alpha Range (according to [VUG]) - relaxed, not thinking about anything in particular, sometimes a pleasurable feeling of "floating". Often dominant in certain kinds of meditation, alpha waves have for the past twenty years been associated with calm, lucid mental states (the "alpha state"). They're also often detected during dream sleep. This pattern typically occurs in daydreaming, relaxed awareness, guided or focused imagery & smoothly rhythmic athletic activity. There's often a euphoric, effortless feeling of "flow" as the doer is absorbed in activity and subject + object are felt to be united. [VUG via DW]

9.0 - 14.0 Alpha range (according to [AWI]) - Relaxed & detached awareness, visualization, sensory imagery, light reverie. Also, gateway to meditation - provides bridge between the conscious & subconscious mind. [AWI]

9.0 - Awareness of causes of body imbalance & means for balance[×] Blind person phantom touch reading (somatosensory cortex) [RA]; Associated with Sacral/Svadhisthana chakra (Color=Orange) (Body Parts=Gonads, Reproductive System) (Effects=Relationships/Sexuality) (Note=D) [OML]

33 Christ consciousness, hypersensitivity, Pyramid frequency (inside) ; Schumann Resonance (5th frequency of 7) [TS]

Funky coincidence it lines up with the Christ Consciousness & Pyramid frequency, eh? I've had some interesting results with this one -- particularly when I overlap waves at 9.0 HZ (pyramid outside frequency). The mind tends to wander in funny ways.

epileptic_seizures_warning.gifIt is very hard to say how this audio/visual presentation will effect you so understand that if you choose to experience this video you are doing so at your own risk. Headphones are recommended to make the most of the audio component just as stereo free-viewing is the suggested way to view. Parallel viewing of the native size video or crossed-eye viewing in full-screen mode seem to offer the same degree of stimulation.

Bedtime Monsters

An Alternate Universe

“There’s a monster neath my bed
Just go and have a look
There’s a monster neath my bed
Reading my favorite book

He’s creepy and he’s ugly and
He’s got a million eyes
He waits for me to fall asleep
Then he’ll eat me alive

There’s a monster neath my bed
Believe me when I say
So just please go and have a look
And make it go away”

And so I went and had a look
Though I did not suspect
It seemed as if that boy of mine
Was very near correct

For though a monster sitting there
Was just what did appear
He was kind of pathetic as
His body shook with fear

I said “You are a scary thing
A horrid evil sight
Shouldn’t it be me not you
Who shakes with dread and fright?”

His million eyes did look at me
And he let out a yelp
And then he sidled up to me
And said “I need your help

They said no harm would come to me
I’ve clearly been misled
Cause don’t look now but there’s a boy
On top of my bed.”

Esperienza SaraSole, Mare, Vento (artworks by Sara Quida)

Having been a YouTube subscriber of Rudolf Dierckx for a couple of years now I have come to expect a gourmet feast for the eyes (and ears) in the form of his own brand of artwork set to life as animated slide presentations that have emoting power that simply must be experienced to be understood.

Rudolf's latest presentation explores the artwork of the uniquely talented artist Sara Quida. Together these two remarkable talents will take you into a world of Sun, Sea and Wind that - set to the ethereal sounds of  Karunesh - offer to the viewer that magical power of art to touch the soul. A mighty fine use of the internet if you ask me... [smiley:;)]

Enjoy!

No Stereoscope RequiredStereoscopic vision is one of those miracles of the human condition that is all too often taken for granted. If you are fortunate enough to have two functioning eyes then you posses the ability to view the world in three dimensions and thereby have the tools required for depth perception.

When you look at a single object with two eyes you are actually presenting your brain with two separate images that it must meld into one. The average difference in eyeball separation is only 2-1/2" to 3" but that is all it takes to discern depth in three dimensional space.

The Holmes StereoscopeNot very long after the invention of photography it was realized that if two photographs were taken of a single object with the same separation as the human eyes, these two images could be used to relay a three dimensional view to an individual via the use of a device known as a stereo-graph or stereoscope. The stereoscope would accept precisely mounted images (or view cards) on one end and the user of the device would peer through a couple of magnifying lenses (one for each eye) and would be treated to a picture set that would trick the mind into melding and interpreting as if the viewer were standing at the original camera location. The result was so awe inspiring and entertaining that "Stereopticons" (as these viewers were sometimes called) became a sensation. As a result of their popularity a grand industry arose whereby anything worth photographing was photographed in stereo and marketed to the connoisseurs of this fascinating pastime.

To this day there continues a very active community of Stereoview enthusiast. An internet image search using the word "stereoview" will send you into an incredible World of 3D photography to an extent that borders on the unbelievable.

Bunny, Goat and Baby

To those of us that have mastered the art of freeviewing stereo pairs the internet now offers the ability to see back in time and far away places. You too can enjoy this hidden treasure trove by learning the technique known as freeviewing, which is the ability to render stereo pairs in glorious 3D in your minds eye without the use of a stereo-graph device of any sort.

It is the purpose of this article to help impart the skill of freeviewing to the uninitiated in the hopes that you too will use this simple technique and enjoy this remarkable pastime - this window on the world of long ago - this time machine available at your fingertips.

NASA's Astronomy Picture of the DayNot long ago, I added a new feature to this website called "Astro Pic of the Day." This addition is visible right now in the left-most column of the home page and brings you the daily photo displayed on NASA's Astronomy Picture of the Day page.

Thanks to some creative coding and the services of InfinitelyRemote.com I have been able to harvest NASA's daily image and present it here. I encourage you to click on those daily images to see them in their High-Rez splendor and read their descriptions for a very interesting look into the universe in which we live. In the words of the NASA source page:

Discover the cosmos! Each day a different image or photograph of our fascinating universe is featured, along with a brief explanation written by a professional astronomer.

Today's offering was a very interesting video feed that shows a real-time view of the Earth from the ISS (International Space Station.) Not wishing to lose such an awesome "Window on the World," I have chosen to share it here:

ISS High Definition Earth Viewing (HDEV) experiment

Live streaming video by Ustream

View the "Where is the International Space Station" Map

***QUICK NOTES ABOUT HDEV VIDEO***
Black Image = International Space Station (ISS) is on the night side of the Earth.
Gray Image = Switching between cameras, or communications with the ISS is not available.
No Audio = Normal. There is no audio on purpose. Add your own soundtrack.

For a display of the real time ISS location plus the HDEV imagery, visit here: http://eol.jsc.nasa.gov/HDEV/

The High Definition Earth Viewing (HDEV) experiment aboard the ISS was activated April 30, 2014. It is mounted on the External Payload Facility of the European Space Agency’s Columbus module. This experiment includes several commercial HD video cameras aimed at the earth which are enclosed in a pressurized and temperature controlled housing. Video from these cameras is transmitted back to earth and also streamed live on this channel. While the experiment is operational, views will typically sequence though the different cameras. Between camera switches, a gray and then black color slate will briefly appear. Since the ISS is in darkness during part of each orbit, the images will be dark at those times. During periods of loss of signal with the ground or when HDEV is not operating, a gray color slate or previously recorded video may be seen.
Analysis of this experiment will be conducted to assess the effects of the space environment on the equipment and video quality which may help decisions about cameras for future missions. High school students helped with the design of some of the HDEV components through the High Schools United with NASA to Create Hardware (HUNCH) program. Student teams will also help operate the experiment. To learn more about the HDEV experiment, visit here: http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/station/research/experiments/917.html

Remembering To Care About The Earth

Iron Eyes CodyIt was GatorWoman reminiscing about her meeting with the legendary "Iron Eyes" Cody [see Walking With The Alligators - Earth Day Memories, then and now~] that got me thinking back to the mid-seventies and anti-pollution campaigns of days gone by.

From Wikipedia:

Cody was widely seen in his "crying chief" role in the "Keep America Beautiful" public service announcement (PSA) in the early 1970s. The environmental commercial showed Cody dressed as a Native American, shedding a tear after trash is thrown from the window of a car and it lands at his feet. The announcer, William Conrad, says: "People start pollution; people can stop it."

As memorable as that "Keep America Beautiful" spot was it was the United States Brewers Association's "Pitch In" campaign that I recall as being one of the most effective or rather affective anti-litter campaigns. It was that infectious "jingle" - written by Steve Karmen  that I recall as becoming a mid-seventies Brainworm.

Give A Hoot! Don't Pollute
Seeing this video again takes me back to those days in May spent at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the days leading up to "The Greatest Spectacle In Racing" - The Indianapolis 500. In the height of the "Pitch In" campaign this song was played at the track with such absurd regularity that many in attendance fell prey to this anti-litter brainwashing and would join the collective hive-mind and sing along every time the PSA was broadcast. It was actually heartwarming to witness so many people joining their voices together in support of a cleaner planet. Even to this day, I cannot stand litter-bugs - coincidence? I think not...

HUVr Board Video Claims To Show A Real Life ‘Back To The Future’-Style Hoverboard In Action

Moby, Tony Hawk, and other celebrities rocket around on the HUVr Board—a flying board billed as a real world version of the hoverboard from the Back to the Future film franchise—in this slickly produced promo video featuring Christopher Lloyd who played Emmett “Doc” Brown in the BTTF film trilogy.

According to HUVr, the board is crafted from “paramagnetic titanium” and is expected to ship in December 2014.

Funny or Die is behind HUVr, the mysterious tech company claiming to have invented the first hoverboard. The truth behind this massive viral campaign came out after a costume designer who worked on the shoot posted the experience on her online resume, which has now been removed.

Throw BlogDogIt A BoneI have been having fun with the BlogDogIt "Friends - Link Exchange" (over to the right there - in case you missed it.)[smiley:;)] I have made several friends and have hopefully generated some traffic for them. I also have them to thank for bringing visitors to BlogDogIt by virtue of their display of the "BlogDogIt Tag" on their site, as part of the "Throw BlogDogIt A Bone" initiative.

I was facing a delima in that I had several links posted in the link exchange simply because they contained links back to BlogDogIt while not actually displaying the "BlogDogItTag." I still want to promote those sites but I really feel that the "Friends - Link Exchange" needs to stay true to its intended purpose.

Today I completed what I think to be a fine solution: I call it "Friendly Ad Roller" and right now it is displayed in the upper left corner of every page. This feature displays a randomly selected link-back graphic to one of our friend's websites. The pool of ads contains the official link exchange participants as well as other folks that I would like to bring to your attention.

Scroll this Box for the full "Rotation" of available Ads.
