I am happy beyond belief and I thought I would cry at this moment, but I am in no circumstance to. Not knowing if I would be able to walk again, and now being able to run again is a huge success. It is like a blind person gaining x-ray vision along with their sight. I thought that if I’d ever be able to run again, I’d cry, but being on the treadmill with pain trickling down my nerves, and exhaustion exfoliating through my body, tearing up would be a whole new skill set to learn. Plus if I tried and lost focus, I could potentially fall and end up part of the machine. All the other hamsters would laugh at me, and I’d be known as the hamster that came close, but never made it.

Sergeant Swell of the Mounties (1972)

Sergeant Swell of the Mounties is a short film written and directed by Len Janson and Chuck Menville, with Menville starring in the title role.

The film is said to be a spoof of the '50s television series  Sergeant Preston of the Yukon. It relies heavily on the use of the animation technique known as pixilation (using human actors as stop-motion puppets.) It also relies on silliness and corn ball humor, often venturing into stereotypical humor in search of a laugh (that it very often finds.) This independent film was introduced at the Ann Arbor Film Festival in March of 1972.

I have actually owned this film in Super-8 format (w/mag-stripe sound!) since the mid 1980's. After viewing it so often on the silver screen it is a little disorienting to see it on this small embedded video screen, but it's not like that is the only disorienting thing about this film. Do you have 16 minutes to spare in the quest for a good time? Mount Up! and give this little classic a try.

A Friend's Facinating Footage is Found

     Perhaps it may seem a tad bit gratuitous to post about Bigfoot. I mean, the mere mention of Sasquatch and all SEO bets are off. The internet is chocked full of Bigfoot "this" and Yeti "that", but I could not just sit on this discovery any longer.

Bigfoot spotted on twitter.

     A year or so ago while visiting the web site of our friend Jonathan Chapin [JonnyChapps.com] I noticed - in his twitter feed - the mention of a vimeo video purporting to be about Bigfoot.  Although Jon's tweet was intended for one of his twitter followers, I reason that if he did not want anyone to see the video he would not be discussing it in such a public forum.

     I must admit to being a big fan of the "Controversial Documentary" genre (you know, UFOs, Ancient Aliens, Crop Circles and so forth.) So let me tell you, when I found myself in front of the video player with the chance to virtually tag-along on an amateur Bigfoot reconnaissance mission I did not have to think twice about hitting the play button. What followed was an adventure into the Cascade Mountains that I will not soon forget. This is a brilliant bit of documentary and it would be a shame if this footage was never mentioned in the same sentence as the Patterson film - so there.

... so I entered "masodo" into the search engine and found a link to the following "MixCloud" page. It says by masodo but I assure you it is not me. What I discovered was a very odd mix of music that actually turned out to be some enjoyable ear candy. This find was really significant in that it was my introduction to the music of Daniel Johnston.The song "Walking The Cow" seemed at first to be a joke but I was soon on a quest to discover more from this artist.
