-BlogDogIt Note -Planet Buddha

I was disappointed to discover PlanetBuddha.com is Error_404.

Planet Buddha was featured In The Spotlight here
and unfortunately now that article contains some dead links.

Hopefully it is only temporary...

UPDATE!! Find Them Now @ http://www.planetbuddha.blogspot.com/

From Planet Buddha Facebook Page: http://www.facebook.com/PlanetBuddha
February 19

Planet Buddha was sabotaged by someone last week, and we have been dislodged as a result from the usual website; we still are even as we speak, and have 0-percent search hits on Google at this time. He had taken off some of our contributors too, but we have recovered most of them except for two people. If you're one of them and see this, please know why you're not on our list, it was not the doing of the current admins.

UPDATE: Magic-1.org is back on-line!
TELNET IN TODAY - user: guest pwd: magic

While revisiting previous post and checking links on site, I was disappointed to discover that the article "Magic of Buzzbee" contained dead links to MAGIC-1. I decided to "get to the bottom of this."

I share with you the following email exchange between myself and Bill Buzzbee:

    Hi Bill o

The last several times I have tried to access our little friend I have been - as I am sure you are well aware - unsuccessful. :(

I am concerned regarding the health of the system and am hopeful that you have simply taken her off-grid and the computer is perhaps "on vacation."

I see that http://www.homebrewcpu.com/ is still chugging along... Any chance of a status update over there?

I hate to be a bother but just wanted to let you know, here is one more user that misses the Magic-1

    Best wishes to you, Sir.

    Michael (masodo) DeBurger

Michael,
Wow - someone noticed...  Actually, Magic-1 is doing just fine.  We've got some construction work going on in the house and I had to move it temporarily.  The construction is nearly complete, so I expect I'll get Magic-1 back online within a week or two.  I'll ping you when it's back up.
   Regards,
...Bill

Regular visitors may notice a few changes here. In case you hadn't noticed, allow me to highlight some of the latest changes and additions.

  • I have been tinkering with the configuration so that the user experience for anonymous users is limited as compared to logged in members. There are a lot of RSS Feeds available for members that are hidden from those non-logged-in visitors. Members will no longer see the advertisements and other selected content. Members will also have the ability to customize the content that is available. If you have an RSS feed that you would like to have available here please send me the URL and I will create a "block" just for you (and of course share it with the other members.)

  • Links have finally been categorized and Link Submission privileges have been afforded to all logged-in users. Will you please help grow this resource - sharing is caring!

  • StumbleUpon has been added to the "Social Media Bar" below each post. This will join the Facebook, Google, Technorati, Digg, Twitter, Reddit, MySpace and Del.icio.us options for sharing to your social media sites. If you would like to have any other share-links added you need only ask.

  • Item Rating functionality has been added to posts. You need not be logged in to rate an item but you only get one rate per IP address. I hope you will take the two seconds and rate a post before moving on to the next one. It'll be fun! Think of it as a Tip-of-the-Hat, Thumbs-up, Thumbs-down, Hello, whatever... this is the least that you can do to contribute to BlogDogIt - as always - ANY contribution to BlogDogIt is greatly appreciated.

  • All members of BlogDogIt that are also participants in the "Friends - Link Exchange" program have been granted the required permissions to contribute to "The Transom" and are hereby invited to contribute anything their heart desires to this open topic. Advertise your site... Plug your friends site... Create a links page... Have at it... You can even create content for members eyes only. If you need assistance in this area - I will be happy to help. Share and Enjoy!

  • Since the addition of the "K+Club" (the repository for all post garnering more than 1000 views) I have added the menu item "Top Stories" that lists the top 50 stories with less than 1024 views. The latest inductee will now be featured on the BlogDogIt front page (usually the bottom post since post are sorted by newest first.) This allows a post to earn its way back to the front page for one more "how-do-you-do."

  • The ever popular "In The Spotlight" topic has been given its' own RSS feed. The plan is to create an individual feed for each of the various topics. These feeds will be offered within the specific topic area. Coming soon!

So yeah, I've been having fun. I hope you enjoy your time spent on this site. Your visitation is much appreciated; your contributions... all the more so. As your reward, I vow to think of you all as I browse the interwebs and bring to your attention those bits I find particularly interesting. "Share and Enjoy!" that's my philosophy. Introducing The K+ Club

New Topic Item: The K+ Club

"The K+ ClubThere's no accounting for taste" - or so the axiom goes. However, The K+ Club will attempt to provide some accounting for the most popular postings here on BlogDogIt.com.  Whenever a post receives 1000(1K) or more hits it will be removed from it's topic of origin and placed into The K+ Club topic. The latest addition to the club will also become a featured story on the front page.

The K+ Club can be looked at as part "Hall of Fame", part "Archive." It also serves as a barometer of "What Sells" on the internet according to BlogDogIt. The K+ Club should NOT be seen as "The Best Of" BlogDogIt rather the most "magnetic" of our offerings. There is a ton of really good content on-site that - even now - is struggling to top 200 views.

Using the "BlogDogIt Tag Cloud" is a great way to get at those burried gems. Likewise, don't forget about the Site Directory as another useful tool for picking through this content mine. Of course the BlogDogIt Top 50 (by views <1K) feature will keep you apprized of those stories that are climbing the ranks, on their way to The K+ Club (see the "Top Stories" link located on the top-of-page menu above.)

Please explore BlogDogIt.com. It's hard telling what you are going to hit upon... Something Interesting Probably!

Greetings Staff of StreetViewFun.com,

    >>Have a funny or interesting site? Want more traffic?

I have what I think is a very interesting site that is becoming increasingly popular every day.

    >>You can get your text link at the bottom of all pages within StreetViewFun.com under “Links”.

I am excited about the opportunity to have a link to BlogDogIt.com on StreetViewFun.com.

    >>Just add our text link to your site and send your link to us at info @ streetviewfun.com
    >>Mention how many daily unique visitors you have to your site and where you have placed our link.

Come to http://BlogDogIt.com/ and see for yourself.

I have added a link to streeviewfun.com on my site (I have actually created a graphical button to be displayed in my recently created 'Friends - Link Exchange' block) in the upper right-hand corner (prime real estate ;-)) of every page.

We receive a few hundred unique visitors daily and have quite a few regular followers. I have recently hit 3/4 of one-million hits to the system (understanding bots are responsible for a great deal of that.) We have a wide mix of content much of it original. This is a not-for-profit hobby site and a labor of love.

We feature quality content and get respectable search engine generated traffic. A link exchange with StreatViewFun would be a feather in my virtual cap. I have long been a member and (twice) contributor to your site. (http://www.streetviewfun.com/author/masodo/) This is just the sort of promotion I have been keen to discover.

Please ADD a text link for http://BlogDogIt.com/ (Bloggin' It While Doggin' It)  Please pay us a visit, I would very happy to have you as a member of my site as well [smiley::D]

    >>Requirements
    >>- Your site is being updated regularly with new content
    >>- In english

Done and Done!

    >>We’ll send you an email within a week if your site has been approved.

Yes, please do!

Thank you for the chance to communicate. Keep StreetViewFun alive - I Can Help!

The doors are now open...

Login with Facebook now available

After a fair amount of hacking around I have finally succeeded in getting a functioning "Login with Facebook" feature installed on BlogDogIt. I hope you enjoy the convenience of registration-free access to the site.*

Of course if you would rather leave Facebook out of it, you may now also register for a BlogDogIt account. Simply "Sign up as a New User" and get your authorization via email.

For the longest time I have had a closed registration system because of spam attacks and errant robotic shenanigans. Lately I have been hard at work adding additional security features to the site and am now ready to allow access to all who care to step inside my humble abode.

Thank you for visiting - Share and Enjoy!

*If you would also like to see "Login with Twitter" and/or "Login with In"
let me know and I will get to work on it.

[PUBLISHED DRAFT}

It has been two weeks since I started the "In The Spotlight" topic and have been having a pretty good time with this little project. For those who have not had the pleasure, here is the introductory text that (for now) accompanies the heading for that topic area:

In The Spotlight is a new feature of BlogDogIt.

After recently claiming BlogDogIt.com on Technorati it was obvious that - as a new member - BlogDogIt was starting at the bottom of a great heap of blogs and it would be the height of folly to think we would ever make it into Technorati's "TOP 100 Blogs" ranking. However, it is clear as day that among the listed blogs is a veritable cornucopia of content for one so intent on Bloggin' / Doggin' IT.

Through this feature, I will shine the Spotlight on selected blogs; those with a similar "authority" ranking as BlogDogIt and which cover at least one of our claimed "authority" topic areas. A big thank you to Technorati and a BlogDogIt Welcome to our spotlit blogs. Please visit these sites and tell 'em we sent you. Don't forget to come back here  though - better yet add BlogDogIt RSS to your feedlist - to stay on top of what's happening at or near the bottom.

Now... Going Up?

[a bit] About Technorati

The leading blog search engine and directory, Technorati.com indexes more than a million blogs. The site has become the definitive source for the top stories, opinions, photos and videos emerging across news, entertainment, technology, lifestyle, sports, politics and business. Me and computers go way back. My high school had a computer and a class. I did not take the class but I did use the computer room as a location for an amateur film entitled - strangely enough - "The Computer." I could not tell you what type of computer it was other than to say it was a behemoth in blue and a punch card system. This was circa 1975. A time when pocket calculators had glowing red LED displays and PONG was just hitting the streets. The world of computing was strange and new. You could not really say that I was "into" computers but it would be fair to say "we hung out." I intend to post to this blog on a somewhat regular basis. For my part I will post about things that interest me and things that may interest a certain segment of the internet at large. I would also like to formerly extend the invitation for you dear reader to register for an access account and join the fun.

UPDATED: See edits below (changed my mind)

It Used to Be NEWS

I have made the executive decision to move items originally posted to "The NEWS Topic" into the ever popular "madmike's musings" BlogDogIt topic when they no longer feel like news.

This will keep "The NEWS Topic" less cluttered; keeping the News Feeds within easy reach. and may serve to breathe a little life into "madmike's musings."
