What's A Pentium For?

I too am not one to let XP and/or Pentium processors go softly into the night, especially since they still function to give what you require of a computer; in their ability to assist in the completion of particular tasks.

I am a huge fan of the Linux operating systems and challenged myself many years ago to attempt to get a handle on RedHat and have since moved into Fedora and ultimately now using CentOS. There is no better way to release the hidden power of older machines than to ditch the bulky Windows operating system in favor of a Linux distro.

I have goofed around with WINE to allow the running of Windows based programs in the Linux environment and was very pleased with the result.

I would suggest that you look around for Linux drivers for your printer and see which "distro" it was developed for as a guide to which flavor of Linux might serve you best. If there is not a driver available perhaps you could develop one (seems driver porting is big sport for entry level Linux developers.) [smiley:;)]
